PHOTO: Police Chase Woman...For Stabbing Another Woman With Bottle

The Tema Regional Office of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) is on the heels of a woman believed to be in her mid 30s for allegedly stabbing one Doreen severally with a broken bottle at Tema Newtown. The suspect, Adjeley Phillies, who is unemployed, was said to have attended a friend�s funeral with the victim at Tema Newtown when the incident occurred. Both suspect and victim are said to be residents of Teshie in Accra. Confirming the incident to Daily Guide, the Coordinator of DOVVSU, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rebecca Nyamah, said on July 23, 2011 at about 2pm, the victim attended a friend�s funeral at Tema Newtown. Just after the mortal remains of deceased was lifted for burial, the victim and her friend decided take some drinks at a nearby drinking bar. While at the bar they were said to have received a call from a member of the bereaved family, who asked them to return to the venue to eat. DSP Nyamah mentioned that immediately they got to the premises of the caller, Adjeley, without provocation, smashed a bottle on the floor and stabbed the victim several times on most parts of her body after which she bolted away. She noted that victim became unconscious and was rushed to the Port Clinic in Tema, stressing that she was transferred to the Tema General Hospital and detained for some days for treatment. According to DSP Nyamah, investigations have revealed that the suspect is hiding at Dansoman and its environs in Accra. She appealed to the general public to assist in arresting the suspect for further investigations. The coordinator warned friends and relations of Adjeley Phillies, who might be harbouring the suspect, to release her or report to the nearest police station, adding that failure to do so could lead to criminal prosecution.
