Businessman Robbed Of His Gold

Suspected robbers at dawn on Monday robbed a business man of more than 25 kilogrammes of gold worth GH� 1.8 million while on his way to Accra. The businessman, Victor Ali Asherifi, a licensed gold dealer, was said to be transporting the gold he bought at Tarkwa to his business partners in Accra when he was attacked at Tarkwa Nsuem at about 04:30 a.m. According to the Tarkwa Divisional Police Commander, Mr Kwadwo Antwi Tabi, the victim said upon reaching the scene of the crime, an unregistered ash KIA Pride saloon car crossed him. The victim told the police the occupants of the vehicle quickly came out holding guns, held him at gun-point, opened his car doors and made away with the bag containing the gold bars. The divisional commander said before the victim could report to the police at Tarkwa Nsuem the robbers had sped off in their car. No arrests have been made.
