Jealous Lover Kills Rival

An Unemployed Resident of Akitsikope, an Afienya suburb near Tema, whose name was only mentioned as Emma, is currently in police custody helping with investigations into the death of a certain Thomas Afutu Nartey, an electrician. Emma was arrested by the police after Nartey was alleged to have told his uncle that Emma stabbed him on the dawn of July 27, 2011 at Akitsikope as he made his way home from the residence of a woman he was dating, an ex-girlfriend of the suspect. Briefing Daily Guide at Afienya, the Station Officer of the Afienya Police Station, Inspector Daniel Kofi Tetteh, noted that a certain Raymond Tetteh Nartey, a resident of Kofikope near Afienya, reported to his station that his nephew, Thomas, was stabbed by someone and was lying in a pool of blood at Akitsikope. According to Inspector Tetteh, Raymond later organized some young men who helped him take Thomas to the Tema General Hospital where he was later reported dead. Mr. Tetteh told Daily Guide that the deceaseds uncle mentioned to his office that Thomas had left home on July 26 and went to stay with his girlfriend, Grace Antiyie Kordea, a mother of one at Akitsikope in her family house. The deceased stayed with Grace for another day and had just left her residence on the dawn of July 27 for his home when Emma and some three other persons allegedly attacked him. The uncle further narrated that his nephew had revealed on his deathbed at the Tema General Hospital where he was rushed to after the attack, that it was Emma, an ex-boyfriend of Graces, who had stabbed him. Perhaps, for fear of being arrested, Emma was said to have gone into hiding and later arrested from his hideout at Zeenu. He has since been in police custody. A source at Afienya has told Daily Guide that the suspect had dated Grace for a couple of years and had over and over again failed to marry her anytime he was asked to do so by the family of the lady, a situation which had compelled the lady to demand that they go their separate ways. She was reported to have told Emma that she had moved on when she and Thomas started dating. The suspect, according to the source, got offended anytime he saw the lady with another man. He was alleged to have phoned her the night before the death of her new boyfriend. The Station Officer confirmed that Grace, during interrogation, admitted that Emma had called her several times the night before the death of her boyfriend, asking her to meet him at a location, but she declined and later turned her phone off before retiring to bed with the deceased person.
