Policeman Arrested For Car Snatching

Four suspected car snatchers including a dismissed police officer have been arrested by the Odorkor District Police Command for snatching ten vehicles from their owners at gunpoint. The suspects are Percy Aboagye aka Nana Kwame- 22, Justice Eduah aka Paning, Frederick Amoakwah aka Apoh and Constable Emmanuel Sam Mensah- 28, a policeman and leader of the group. Six out of the ten cars have been retrieved by the police. Briefing Daily Guide, the commander in charge of the Odorkor District Police, Superintendent Ebenezer K. Asare, said the arrest of suspect Percy Aboagye on February, 13, 2011 led to the arrest of the remaining three at their hideout. Suspect Justice Eduah was arrested at his hideout at Breman Asikuma on May 28, 2011 and on June, 8 2011, suspect Frederick Amoakwah aka Apoh, was also arrested at Ajumako Besease. On July 14, 2011, the group leader, Emmanuel Sam Mensah, was arrested at Mankessim based on intelligence gathered. The Odorkor District Commander said the four are currently facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit robbery, and robbery in the same court. Four out of the ten vehicles were retrieved at Wa in the Upper West Region. Two of the vehicles have also been identified by their rightful owners and yet to be collected. Superintendent Asare averred that with the arrest of such syndicates, crime rates had reduced drastically. However, he said efforts were being made to clamp down on criminals who used motorbikes to snatch mobile phones and other valuable items from innocent persons.
