Ex-President Kufuor For Nigeria/Ghana Game

Information gathered by Daily Guide Sports in London indicates that former President John Agyekum Kufuor will grace the Ghana-Nigeria game scheduled for today August 9, 2011 at Vicarage Road Stadium, home of Championship side Watford FC. The paper learnt that the ex-President gave an interview to Ghanaian-owned media networks a few days ago, during which he indicated that he would be at todays game. He was said to have urged all Ghanaians resident in England to patronize the game in order to maintain Ghana as the best in Africa. He noted that the rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria was intense; therefore there was the need for fans to give massive support to the Black Stars to boost their morale during the game. A visit to the Vicarage Road Stadium in Watford yesterday around 2.00pm local time saw workers busily cleaning up and straightening rough edges for the big game today. The park had been neatly manicured, but manager of the place Richard Walker refused to grant the paper an interview. He however mentioned that the stadium had a capacity of 17,000. The paper observed that the posters of British music legend Elton John had lined up the lounges in the stadium. Upon inquiries, it was revealed that when the Vicarage Road Stadium was put up for sale in 2003, it was Elton John, a Watford FC fan, who held a big concert at the park, and raised money to buy it back for the Championship side. There is also a whole stand at the stadium named after the music legend.
