MTN Supports Asafotufiam Festival

Ghana�s leading telecommunications provider, MTN Ghana, has supported this year�s Asafotufiam Festival of the chiefs and people of Ada with a cash of GHC 6,000 and GHC 1,000 worth of airtime. MTN also presented MTN souvenirs and a drink hamper to demonstrate the company�s support and commitment to the festival. Reputation Research Manager of MTN, Archibald Annan, who presented the items, said �our aim of providing this kind of support is to help preserve our rich and diverse Ghanaian culture and also remember the achievements of our great ancestors. He took the opportunity to express the company�s gratitude to the chiefs and people of Ada whose support to the business has contributed greatly to maintaining its leadership position in the telecoms industry in Ghana. He said �we remain confident of your continued support of our efforts as we endeavour to provide the most reliable and affordable world-class products and services to meet the needs of our valued customers,� Mr. Annan assured the chiefs and people of Ada of MTN�s continued commitment to invest in network infrastructure in order to provide the best network services to all including those in the Ada Traditional Area. Citing MTN�s over $90 million investments in the WACS submarine cables as an example, he indicated that the project would help catapult Africa into the digital age. He also encouraged them to take advantage of the recently launched MTN Business which offers tailor-made ICT solutions to enterprises and individuals to boost their businesses. With the introduction of Mobile Number Portability, Mr. Annan used the occasion to invite new subscribers to join the number one network in Ghana. He entreated those who have not yet registered their SIM cards to do so before the deadline to ensure that they stay connected and continue enjoying the best telecoms services available in Ghana. The Chairman of the Asafotufaim planning committee, Nene Debrah IV, on behalf of the Paramount Chief of Ada, Nene Kabu Akuaku III, Ada Traditional Council, planning committee and the people of Ada, thanked MTN for their continued support for the festival. He also requested for more support for next year�s Asafotufiam which happens to be the 75th anniversary of the festival. He said �we want to thank MTN for your support each year. MTN always takes the lead with support when we make a request. We are happy and grateful for the gift presentation. We hope that next year�s own will be bigger than this.� The Asafotufiam Festival is celebrated by the chiefs and people of Ada in commemoration of the achievements and gallantry of their ancestors whose victories in wars have won them their present heritage and settlements. MTN is supporting twelve major festivals across the country this year. In line with this objective, MTN recently joined the people of Elmina to celebrate the Bakatue festival.
