Nasri Signs For Manchester City

MANCHESTER CITY have completed the 24million signing of Samir Nasri from Arsenal. The France international midfielder, 24, has put pen to paper on a four-year contract worth 180,000 a week. Nasri will wear the No19 shirt and becomes City's fifth new recruit of the summer following the acquisitions of Sergio Aguero, Stefan Savic, Gael Clichy and Costel Pantilimon. Nasri scored 25 goals in 127 appearances for Arsenal after joining from Marseille in a 15.8m move in July 2008. He said: "It's a big relief because it was a long negotiation between the two clubs. Now I'm a City player and that's what I wanted from the start so I'm really happy. "I was frustrated because I said I wanted to leave, but I stayed for the pre-season I wanted to do pre-season in Manchester and get to know my team-mates. "Today is a big day for me, it's a new start and I'm looking forward to doing it." Nasri has revealed he also took advice from Kolo Toure and Gael Clichy who have made the same switch as well as former Gunners legend Patrick Vieira. He said: "I spoke with them a lot they called me on holiday. "It was important to get advice from players who have played for the club and know the difference between Arsenal and Manchester City for me they made a big difference. "Patrick made a big difference he is a legend in France. "When a player like this who has played for Arsenal and Inter Milan says it is the club of future, then they have a big project." Nasri later sent a message to City fans via his Twitter account. He posted: "A big hello to all the Manchester City fans out there. I can't wait to get started at my new club!" But he had words of thanks for his old Arsenal team-mates Robin van Persie and Jack Wilshere, along with Cesc Fabregas, who quit the Gunners for Barcelona last week. Nasri added: "Thank you to my friends for your messages. I will miss you." Meanwhile, City boss Roberto Mancini hailed his latest capture. The Italian said: "Samir is a fantastic player because he has technique, he has mentality. "I knew him when he played for Marseille. I followed him when I was at Inter and we wanted to take him five years ago. "But I think in the last few years in the Premier League he's improved a lot. Now I think he's a top player."
