Presidential Aide's Bodyguard Slapped Me - NDC Women Organiser

The Women's Organizer of NDC for the Ododiodio Constituency, Mavis Manorgbor has told Citi News that she was slapped by a bodyguard to Presidential aide, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, during a meeting of constituency executives on Wednesday. According to her, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, who has ambitions of contesting the seat in the constituency with gun-wielding bodyguards, assaulted her after she challenged an order by Nii Lantey that all non NDC persons should leave the room of the meeting. This resulted in a brawl and near fisticuffs between supporters of Mr Vanderpuije and incumbent MP, Nii Tackie Commey at the said meeting. Presidential aide Nii Lantey has since denied the allegation. He told Citi News that he was at the constituency in the company of an armed security detail but there was no assault from his side. Presidential aide Nii Lantey Vanderpuije however declared his intentions to run for the seat of the Odododiodio constituency on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress but has denied campaigning ahead of the parliamentary primaries in the area saying I am not campaigning I am just doing what my people want to be done for them. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije gave indications that his intention to contest the Odododiodio seat has never been a secret intimating that in 1996, I aspired as a young person together with three other senior people, we struggled and after a long time, we were asked to step down for Nii Okaija Adamafio. In 2004 I was elected the parliamentary candidate, unfortunately something happened and I had to step down for my campaign manager and late former MP Honourable Mankata. In 2008, I could have contested but I decided to support hounourable Jordan Tackie Commey, I supported him with my heart, my resources and everything, he won the primaries and also won the elections to become our MP. Yes when the time comes and the party opens nominations in the Odododiodio constituency, I will contest and I shall win.
