Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a leading waste management company in the country, is open to investment in other areas of the economy, Mr Oscar Provencal, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Company said.
He said the Company had therefore set in motion plans to engage in large scale agriculture in every region in the country based on the type of venture suitable for each region.
He was answering questions during a press briefing in Ho on Saturday. He said this diversification in investment accords with the business strategies of the Jospong Group of Companies of which Zoomlion is the flagship.
Mr Provencal explained that challenges of modern business environment required companies to invest in strategic areas outside their core businesses. He said it was logical for the Company to enter into agriculture now that it would be producing compost from its waste treatment plant now under construction.
Mr Provencal said by going into agriculture Zoomlion would be providing jobs for thousands of skilled and unskilled job seekers and help in efforts at securing food security in Ghana. He said through the agriculture venture the Company would provide regular food packages and improved allowances to its core and part-time workers.
Mr Provencal advised media practitioners to take advantage of such initiatives by Zoomlion so as to diversify and maximise their earnings. Mr Anthony Adzomani, Volta Regional Supervisor of Zoomlion Ghana limited, said the Volta Region branch of the Company would be going into fishing farming on the Volta Lake.

It has eight subsidiaries made up of Zoomlion Domestic waste Services limited, Zoomlion Janitorial Services Limited, Zoomlion Cabin Limited, which manages mobile toilets, Zoomlion Landscape and Beautification Services.
The rest are Zoil Services Limited which is into coastal environmental sanitation and oil spillage management, YESDEC, which deals with skills training and development and J.A. Plantpool Limited which is into heavy duty equipment hiring, sale and rental of construction and waste management equipment.
