Borussia Dortmund 1 Arsenal 1

IVAN PERISIC'S thunderbolt saw Borussia Dortmund gain a well-earned point against Arsenal. The Croatian midfielder's late equaliser was the least the hosts deserved after they bossed large spells of the game. The Gunners had taken the lead through Robin van Persie after the Dutch striker fired home a powerful shot from Theo Walcott's through ball. However, misplaced passing and finishing were costing Jurgen Klopp's side dear at goalscoring opportunities, much to the coach's visible displeasure. With less than 15 minutes remaining, Arsenal brought on Emmanuel Frimpong for Walcott in a bid to shore things up as they strained to keep Dortmund at bay. Wojciech Szczesny did well to prevent Neven Subotic scoring from close range when the Serbia defender latched onto a Mario Gotze corner in the 82nd minute. Gotze screwed wide moments later as Dortmund pressed for an equaliser, which came in the 88th minute through Perisic's wonder goal. The ball fell kindly to the substitute from a corner and he unleashed a volley that rifled into the top right-hand corner with two minutes remaining. Dortmund pressed for the winner in the dying minutes, but the Gunners held firm to claim a point. After the match, Szczesny admitted he could do nothing to prevent Perisic's equaliser. The Polish stopper said: "We were under a lot of pressure in the second half. "Sometimes they go in and you take that. I didn't move. I believe I had no chance. "We showed on Saturday against Swansea that we know how to play football, we know how to win games. Today was a very tough fixture but I think we can be happy."
