I Forgive Fernando Torres - Chelsea Coach

ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS has made his peace with Fernando Torres after the goal-shy striker turned Champions League creator. The 50million Spanish star set up both goals for David Luiz and Juan Mata as Chelsea saw off Germans Bayer Leverkusen in their Group E opener. Boss Villas-Boas was delighted with Torres' response after he accused team-mates of being too old and too slow last week. AVB tracked down the recording of Torres' critical interview and said: "The investigation is over, the problem has been solved. "We had a chat and you all saw how the player reacted with a good collective performance. "Hopefully these things won't arise again. If they do, it will be the manager who has to resolve it." Yet Villas-Boas refused to confirm that Torres would keep his place for Sunday's visit to Premier League leaders Manchester United. He said: "We have another couple of days to train and Torres will compete with the other four strikers for that position," As for resting senior stars Frank Lampard, John Terry and Nicolas Anelka last night, AVB added: "We took the decision to rest some players and it's just fairness to the amount of talent we have at our disposal. "It would be a mistake for me not to try to keep everyone motivated and exploit all our talents. That is the task of any manager."
