Daring Potter Steals From COPs Bra

A daring thief who dipped his hands in the brassiere of a policewoman to pick her purse, is in the grips of the law. Kwaku Mensah, 20, a head porter was charged for stealing a Nokia mobile phone and GH20.00 belonging to Mary Essel Ackom the police woman at the Police Training Depot, in Accra. He pleaded not guilty to the charge when he first appeared before the Kaneshie Circuit Court presided by Ms Mercy Kotei. Police Sergeant Fredua Agyeman told the court on Tuesday that the complainant, Mary Essel Ackom is a policewoman stationed at the National Police Training School. Tesano whilst Kwaku Mensah, the accused alias Apus is a head porter at the Kaneshie Market. On August 9, this year at about 4:30 am Mary Ackom alighted from a commercial vehicle near the Kaneshie footbridge, close to the lorry park. He said as soon as the police woman alighted from the vehicle, Mensah appeared on the scene and quickly dipped his hand her breast and snatched her purse containing a Nokia phone and the money. Mensah then scaled the barbed wire on the main road and bolted. The prosecutor said, a report was made to the police and she was given a police escort to the crime scene where Mensahs name was given to the police by an informant. Mensah went into hiding for sometime until August 29 this year, when he was spotted at the scene spot where he committed the offence and he was arrested by the informant and later handed over to the Kaneshie police. In his caution statement, he admitted the offence and mentioned Ahoofe as his accomplice whom he gave the phone to. Unfortunately he could not lead the police to arrest Ahoofe at Agbogloshie. Meanwhile when Mensah was being escorted to serve his remand at Nsawam Prisons, he threw himself on the ground and yelled, I will not go, I will not go. I prefer police custody, halting court proceedings for a while. It took the effort of Police Officers to force him to join other suspects to Nsawam in the company of a police officer.
