The ruling NDC has joined other political parties especially the NPP and the PNC to call for an early IPAC meeting to discuss issues relating to the proposed production of a biometric voters� register.
The call is coming four days after the courts declared the EC free to go ahead with its mandate to produce the biometric voters register.
The NDC unlike the NPP and the other minority parties had been silent on an early IPAC meeting to be organized by the Electoral Commission.
Speaking on Citi FM�s current affairs program �The Big Issues� on Saturday October 1, Deputy Minister for Energy, Inusah Fuseini said such a dialogue with the Electoral Commission will help allay the fears of all Ghanaians ahead of the 2012 elections.
According to him �NDC recognises that the platform that has been put in place to address these concerns is IPAC. It is not any parties independent own views about how the matter must be carried through that should prevail.
�It is a collective decision and I agree that we should build consensus on things that will unite us, things that would secure the peace for this country, and the consensus building mechanism is IPAC.
"This is because it you take the literal interpretation of article 46, you are going to come to a conclusion that the Electoral Commission can embark on a journey of its own to secure us a credible elections;
�But that could be dangerous because any person who does not buy into what the Electoral Commission is doing can raise hell after the elections and then we would have problems and that is why we have to build consensus�.
