IGP Is Obaa BaHe Is Easily Intimidated Nana Obiri Boahene

A former minister of state at the Interior Ministry in the erstwhile Kufour administration, Nana Obiri Boahene, has slammed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Paul Tawiah Quaye, for backing investigations into the alleged misconduct of eight police officers alleged to have insulted Deputy Minister for the Interior, Kobby Acheampong. To him, the IGP displayed weak leadership in a situation which could have been handled with a bit of professionalism. Nan Obiri Boahene further opines that for the IGP to have given his consent for the Rambo-style arrest of the police officers at that time of day- 9:30pm- clearly portrays he is easily intimidated. In his candid opinion, there was no need for the police hierarchy to set up a committee to investigate the case since by their actions they have prejudged the officers. In the first place, the issue was under investigations so why didnt they wait till after the completion of investigations before arresting and detaining the police officersIGP could have handled the case better, the police service is under the Interior ministry so the IGP could have saved the situation by first apologizing to the minister on behalf of the officers and also given him the assurance that the matter will be investigated thoroughly instead of rushing to effect the arrest of the officers by means of an armored car." "By this singular act, I think the IGP is a female child (obaa ba) weak leader, I dont intend insulting him but I mean he is someone who is easily intimidated, he noted.
