National Security Cant Stifle Us - Karbo

The National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Anthony Karbo has said he will not be deterred by attempts to muzzle or harm him in the discharge of his duties to his party. Fridays edition of the Daily Guide newspaper reported that a special group of security operatives has allegedly been set up to trail and possibly harm Karbo and other leading members of the NPP including the party General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie. Karbo told Citi News that although he intends to make a formal complaint to the Inspector General of Police and the Deputy Minister of Interior, who has direct oversight responsibility on the security agencies, he is well prepared to meet anybody who plans to eliminate him. I am a bit surprised that the matter has reached the level that it has reached now because I conferred with my other colleagues who have also expressed worry, Karbo said. I cannot rule out anything in these matters. My own checks within the National Security and BNI confirms that there has been a commissioning of some 15 operatives who are supposed to do some political surveillanceso for me it is just a wakeup call." Another person said to be under surveillance by national security operatives Sammy Awuku, said he is not surprised by the report. He told Citi News that the report only confirms several rumours that he and his colleagues were under the radar of some operatives. I am not surprised at all, we hear daily rumours that you are being trailed, your phone is been tapped, people calling and threatening but I am not surprised. I am more worried about our regional and constituency executives who may be facing similar problems, Awuku stated. Meanwhile, the National Coordinator of the NPPs Nasara club, Abubakar Suleimana, has been robbed. He is the latest member of the NPP to be robbed after Adenta Parliamentary aspirant Frances Essiam, Karbo, Awuku all suffered similar attacks in recent months. Speaking to Citi News, he said robbers ransacked his home near Madina, a suburb of Accra and looted laptops, jewelries, and over GHC 5,000 amongst others. Suleiman said the attacks will not dissolve the resolve of the party.
