Two persons were on Thursday sentenced to 20 years imprisonment each by an Accra High Court for robbing an auditor of the Ghana Water Company Limited of his car at gun point. This was after the two; Daniel Cudjoe aka Paa Joe and Kwabena Michael aka Yooga had been found guilty on charges of conspiracy and robbery. Also found guilty was Kwadwo Baah, who bought the stolen car. He was convicted to a fine of GH 2,000 cedis or in default go to jail for one year. The court presided over by Mr Justice Charles Quist however ordered that the stolen vehicle be given to the owner, Mr Anthony Kwadwo Alomate. Their accomplices; Yaw Amoah and Adamu Damale are said to have died in prison custody while Adamu Musa is said to be mentally derailed. Ms Dufia Prempeh, an Assistant State Attorney , told the court that on November 4, 2008, at about 7:30 pm, Mr Alomate, who was driving his Mitsubishi Lancer saloon car visited a friend at North Ridge in Accra. On reaching the venue, he parked his car at the road side and tried to call his friend on phone to ascertain the direction to the house. Damale came out of the taxi cab and pointed a pistol at him and asked him (the victim) to hand over his phone, car keys and money to him. The prosecutor said Michael opened the victims car and threw him out. Musa on the other hand pulled out a cutlass and slashed the victims hand. Cudjoe then took over the steering wheel and Michael joined him and they sped off. The prosecution said Amoah also drove off the taxi together with his colleagues. The victim chased the accused persons in a different car and crossed them on the Kanda Highway but they sped off. The victim was unable to trace the accused persons but he requested for an itemise phone bill and he detected that the accused persons had used his mobile phone to call a lady. The bill which was handed over to the Police led to the arrest of Michael and later the rest of the accused persons. Cudjoe told the Police that he sold the vehicle to Baah, a scrap dealer at Kokompe, in Accra.
