The Police Hospital in Cantonments, Accra has recalled all doctors and other medical officers who are currently on leave to come and assist in offering medical attention to patients.
As a result of the ongoing strike by some public sector doctors across the country, many patients have had to turn to the Police Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital for medical attention.
Speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer at the Police Hospital, Chief Inspector Juliana Obeng, said tents are going to be mounted in the yard of the hospital to take care of the extra medical cases that are likely to be reported.
She said, �we only have six beds at the Out Patients Department (OPD), but now we have an influx, and so we have 12 patients to six beds which is not too good and it is as a result of the strike. �
�We are going to have tents mounted here at the hospital, we are going to have� trolleys and beds,� she said. �We are looking at recalling nurses and doctors who are on leave back to the hospital, we are looking at reopening of the refurbishment of the theater on Friday. �
Chief Inspt. Obeng added: �We are also looking at recalling some civilian nurses and paramedics who are on training at the Depot immediately back to work. �
