Tamale north constituency NDC Chairman, Alhaji Osman Musah has warned the party�s national executives not to over-rejoice on the Democratic Freedom Party�s reunion with the NDC.
In as much as he agreed that the NDC will need more supporters to win the 2012 general elections, he suggested that Dr. Obed Yao Asamoah and his group should not be trusted for their return to the party.
The Tamale north NDC Chairman added that none of the DFP returnees should be assigned any leadership role in the NDC since such practice could derail the party�s chance of retaining power come the 2012 general elections.
Alhaji Osman Musah gave the warning at a news conference in Tamale where he advised the NDC General Secretary, John Aseidu Nketiah and other members holding key positions to desist from attacking the party�s founder Jerry John Rawlings.
Meanwhile, a coalition of NDC youth groups in the northern region has also called for ceasefire on the attacks on Jerry Rawlings.
The coalition observed that such practice has the potential of disintegrating the party�s followers in the region majority of who see the NDC founder as their role model.
In a statement signed by the coalition�s President, Nat Iddrisu Safian condemned the derogatory remarks made by Johnson Aseidu Nketiah on Jerry Rawlings at the ceremony to officially welcome members of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) back into the NDC.
He said the NDC General Secretary�s description of the party�s founder as a �Barking dog� was unfortunate and that it amounted to betrayal of the confidence majority of NDC supporters in the northern region who are sympathizers of the Rawlings� have reposed in him, Johnson Aseidu Nketiah.
Adding his voice, Alidu Osman Tuunteeya, a member of the coalition observed the NDC will face serious leadership crisis if such unprintable comments are allowed to go unpunished as stated in article 37 of the party�s constitution.
He noted that the exit of Dr. Obed Yao Asamoah in 2005 was a blessing to the party and therefore expressed surprise at the actions of some executives to create disunity in the party.
According to Alidu Osman, some elements of hypocrisy could still be traced to the door steps of Dr. Asamoah who left the party with the intention to cause the NDC�s electoral defeat during the 2008 general elections.
