Everywhere We Look, We See Opportunities

The Vodafone African Business Leaders Forum was officially launched in Accra 19 October with a wide range of high-level business executives and public sector officials in attendance. On hand were Edith Dankwa, Executive Director of the African Business Leaders Foundation and leader of the organizing committee; Kyle Whitehill, the CEO of Vodafone Ghana, who are the headline sponsors for the annual event; and Jeannete Ndhlovu, High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa to Ghana, who officially launched the 2011 event, helped by senior officials from Ghanas public sector. Vodafone Ghana CEO Whitehill says he is excited about sharing his knowledge and experience with Africa at the much-anticipated forum in Accra. I have worked in three different countries on three different continents first in Europe, India and now Africa. And I have the greatest conviction that Africa is a place of opportunity for business. Dr. Kofi Amoah, CEO of Progeny Ventures Inc. and a patron of the Vodafone ABLF, says: Africa has ideas, and we need to bring them out, share them and see the continent move forward. Themed Enhancing Africas Business Opportunities through Effective Public Private Partnerships Dankwa says: Everywhere we look we see opportunity to build infrastructure, boost trade and investment, improve governance, bolster education and human development, and strengthen regional partnerships. Opportunities abound. But we recognise that turning these opportunities into concrete actions that deliver prosperity and wealth will require visionary and effective leadership in both the public and private sectors. That is Africas most demanding challenge of this era. The Vodafone African Business Leaders Forum takes place between 10 and 12 November in Accra, Ghana.
