Akufo Addo Is The Most Popular Politician In Ghana...I Fear For Mills - Rawlings

Former president Jerry John Rawlings says the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPPs) 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is the most popular politician in Ghana today, fearing for the political future of the incumbent president, John Evans Atta Mills. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) founder lamented over the increasing popularity of the governing partys main opponent, blaming it on the bad governance of President John Atta Mills administration. Speaking during a courtesy call on him by Cuban Vice President, Easterban Laso Hernandez, former President Rawlings said it was unfortunate that the high expectations for which Ghanaians voted for the NDC had become a pipe dream, with frustrations written on the faces of electorates. He complained that some innocent people were incarcerated under the erstwhile Kufour-led NPP administration and yet President Mills had failed to seize the moral high ground and do what has to be done. So today we are in government but weaker than the opposition. According to him, if the Mills administration had corrected what he claimed were misdeeds of NPP administration, this government will be flying high, Professor Mills will be sitting so high for the next 20 years, the next 16 years, the next eight year. But today, we sit here with the opposition figure as the most popular politician, former President Rawlings charged.
