Government Asked To Stop The Blame Game

Mr Murtala Mohammed, National Youth Organiser of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), has called on Government to quickly migrate the countrys medical doctors unto the Single Spine Salary Structure. He said: we must also acknowledge that a lot of people are dying at our hospitals because doctors are on strike and life lost cannot be retrieved. A statement signed by Mr Mohammed, copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday, said the nationwide strike embarked upon by the Ghana Medical Association was unfortunate and highly avoidable. It said: We are also appealing to doctors to return to work in order to save lives, especially the future of this country, our younger siblings and our children. The statement noted that in as much as the CPP appreciated the key role of doctors in national development, the future of this country could not be sacrificed on the altar of other peoples interest. It reminded Government of its duty to serve the people of Ghana, especially the masses and should stop solving the crisis of the doctors in the media. The statement asked Government to rather concentrate on solving the problems by engaging the players in negotiations and not resorting to the court of public opinion, and said it should not to fall into the trap of pointing accusing figures and blame games. Legal issues raised by Government officials at this crucial moment are also unfortunate and clear evidence of Governments unwillingness to solve the current impasse, it noted. It called on Government to show leadership by taking pragmatic steps immediately to solve the problems head-on and not offer piece-meal solutions.
