Kaleo Threatens To Depose Alban Bagbin

The Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, is facing an entirely new and potentially more perilous threat to his just-under a decade reign as Member of Parliament for the Nadowli West Constituency. This time, it is the chiefs and people of the Kaleo Traditional Area in the Nadowli West Constituency, who are lacing their boots for a show down that, could see the respected legislator end his law-making career after five terms in office. Angry residents and chiefs of Kaleo are threatening to smash the six term seeking law-makers re-election bid, citing the NDC governments u-turn on the choice of their town as the capital for a new district carved out of the Nadowli District. The Globe Newspaper has seen a copy of a statement by the chiefs and people of the area in which they are threatening to vote massively against the respected lawmaker for his governments failure to give them a district. In the said statement, which would be released on Wednesday, the Chiefs and people of Kaleo are threatening never to return Bagbin to Parliament as MP unless the Mills administration gives the traditional area, which they argue, has more than 130,000 residents, a separate district to fast track development in the area. The locals, who have historically kept faith with the NDC since the birth of the fourth republican constitutional democracy, are threatening to vote massively against the ruling party if their demands are not met with dispatch. The Globe Newspaper is reliably informed that in the face of the locals threat to depose their long-time MP, opponents of the 52 year old have intensified accusations that the former Majority Leader has not done enough to lobby the Mills government to give his people a district of its own. The aim, this reporter gathered, is to deepen the fault lines, in an attempt to make Bagbin increasingly unpopular and prone to a humiliating defeat at the partys primaries. His supporters have however denied the charge. Reached for his comments, Bagbin declined to comment on the issue, but said God knows I am doing my very best for all my people.
