Dr Sekou Nkrumah, Son of Ghana�s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, has warned the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to delude themselves into thinking that they have the 2012 General elections in the bag since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Nana Akufo-Addo could stun them just as City did to their rivals United in last weekend�s Manchester derby. �If you are going to live in a fool�s paradise it would hit you and it might be a landslide victory for Akufo-Addo,� he said. Speaking on Asempa FM�s Ekosii Sen programme, the ardent critic of President Mills� administration stated that the sluggish nature of governance by the NDC under Mills is gradually but surely propelling the ruling party towards a crushing defeat in 2012. He forecasted that something akin to the football match between Manchester United who had a home advantage over their arch rivals Manchester City, but lost miserable to them is likely to occur to the NDC in 2012. Noted for his bluntness of speech, Sekou rubbished assertions by the NDC�s National Propaganda Secretary, Richard Quashigah that the NPP flagbearer�s addiction to �abonsam ta-wa� (marijuana) and his infamous �All-die-be-die� comment is what has made him a popular candidate in the country and not necessarily the failure of the Mills-led administration to fulfill its campaign promises to Ghanaians as claimed by former President Jerry John Rawlings. He described Quashigah�s analysis as �terrible� and added that the NDCs consistent hammering on Nana Addo�s addiction to narcotic drugs in a bid to denigrate him is ineffectual and not scoring them any political points. �The point is that Nana Addo is still popular or popular than Prof. Mills because people are now looking at performance in governance,� he added. The former acting National Coordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC), on Tuesday, September 13, shocked political pundits by announcing his resignation from the NDC, because he felt his role in the party had become somewhat insignificant. Other reasons he assigned for his resignations were that his continuous stay in the NDC is a stumbling block to the progress of her sister, Samia Nkrumah, who was recently elected National Chairman of the Convention People�s Party; to rebuild party. To him, ex-president Rawlings has every right to voice out the wrongs in the ruling party which he believes could scupper the chances of the NDC in 2012. He however pleaded with Mr Rawlings not to completely abandon the NDC since the party still has need of him as the founder. �If you not happy with the leadership, you could campaign for the parliamentary candidates as I have said earlier�you don�t have to campaign for President Mills,� he said.
