Akufo-Addo Isnt Desperate For Power; Ghanaians Are Rather Desperate For Change

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) says its flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo, is not desperate for power as some members of the ruling NDC are purporting. The NPP claims Ghanaians are yearning for change. The Communications Director of the party, Nana Akomea, asserts that Nana Addos acceptance of defeat during the 2008 elections is attestation to a character which is selfless and not power-drunk. Nana Akomea expounded further that the NPP Presidential candidate's recent win at all cost speech at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was not to incite people but rather to ensure that the people vote in a government that can set pragmatic goals. He disclosed that "In 2008, the NPP was in power, Nana Akufo Addo was the flag bearer; we lost election by less than half a per cent. If we were bent on holding on or winning power fair or foul, an incumbent government in Africa where results are shown that you are losing by less than one per cent; its even unheard of. But the man graciously accepted the result". Nana Akomea further posited that the party's flagbearer has proven beyond doubt that he will not resort to any unfair means to win the Presidential seat in 2012. Speaking in an interview with X fm 95.1, he called on Ghanaians to vote out the NDC government saying Ghana needs a transformational leadership with a vision."...it is the duty of the NPP to ensure that this aspiration for change becomes a reality and we must go to every legitimate end to ensure that the change that Ghanaians want occurs", he added.
