The Musicians Union of Ghana, MUSIGA are to embark on a symbolic walk dubbed �Tolerance Walk� on November 16th, 2011. The walk which is supposed to attract many stakeholders from the music industry as well as others from the creative arts in Ghana is being done in connection with the UN World Tolerance Day. The significance of the walk is to preach the message of tolerance, which is a recipe for peace in all aspects of our lives including social, religion, politics, sports and the arts and the walk will involve high-profile figures from the religious sector, civil service, political parties as well as members of the public. The symbolic �MUSIGA Tolerance Walk� will see patrons walk from the Independence Square to the House of Parliament where a petition will be presented to the Speaker or her representative. Coincidentally, Parliament will convene to hear the 2012 National Budget read by the Finance Minister, Hon. Kwabena Duffour on the same day and as already known, no budget has ever been allocated to the creative arts industry in Ghana. It is therefore expected that, in the petition will be a justification on why a percentage of the budget should be apportioned to the arts in the coming years. President of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour stated that the Tolerance Walk is one of many effective projects to be undertaken by the Union and its partners, all in a bid to uplift the image of the industry and make musicians attain a better status. Last month, the Union rolled out a very successful Registration Exercise which saw to the registration of the new members to the Union as well as the re-registration of already�existing members. After the walk, MUSIGA has on its bill a �Grand MUSIGA Ball�, a major fund-raising event slated for November 25th, 2011, an event which will seek to raise funds for the Union in pursuit of many of its numerous viable projects.
