Churches To Sue State If Taxed Says Renowned End-Time Preacher

Renowned End-Time Preacher and Chancellor of Nasem University, Rev. Gabriel Ansah, says churches will take the state to court should they be made to pay taxes. He explains that since churches are not registered as limited liability companies or profit making organizations, they can take legal action against the state should government tax them. "...Most of the churches are not registered as limited liability companies. In so doing, the law will not allow them to be taxed. The church will take the state to court... because we paid. You go to the social welfare you pay and register as non-profit making organization...or non-governmental organization, how do you tax me?" he asked. Rev. Ansah however stressed that commercial departments of churches in Ghana can and should be taxed since such departments generate profit for churches. He pointed out that by the law of the country, the government can only tax the commercial departments of the various churches used for profit generations, but added that taxing offerings in church will amount to "double taxing". The Man of God noted for his regular use of the phrase wotee to wit Have you heard opined on Xfm's "Let's talk Politics" that the best solution to generate monies from churches is to categorize them, charge a fixed registration fee and request an annual renewal of registrations for a fee, stressing that any other means by government to tax churches will be against the law.
