I Will Retain Odododiodioo For NDC Nii Lante Vanderpuiye

The Director of Operations at the Office of the President, Nii Lante Vanderpuiye, has stated his determination to retain the Odododiodioo constituency for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2012 elections. Speaking with the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday, he said, his decision to contest the seat followed appeals to him from opinion leaders and people from both sides of the political divide in the area. He said many constituents had expressed their appreciation for his long standing efforts and commitment towards the development of the area and had assured him of their support. Mr. Vanderpuiye declared that he would put in his bid for the seat when nominations were opened and appealed to delegates, who would be attending the partys primary at a date yet to be announced, to give him their mandate to contest the elections. He said people in the area, who had expressed their gratitude for his efforts in initiating projects in the Constituency that reflected their aspiration, had assured him of their support to enable him to represent them in Parliament. The Presidential Aide among other projects had paved paths and walkways, which were impassable during the raining season from his personal resources and supported the education and other pursuits of bright but needy students, pupils and residents of the constituency. In collaboration with the Vision in Motion (VIM), a non-governmental organization in the area, Mr. Vanderpuiye had also constructed a shed with water and other facilities at the Jamestown beach for women to use as a fish market. He said constituents, who sympathized with him for what he had gone through in his two previous attempts to represent them in Parliament (in 1996 and 2004), had promised to vote for him if he contested the elections. Mr. Vanderpuiye said he was sure to win the seat and stated that he would run an all inclusive campaign, which would include what he called Prime New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwarts in the constituency who had promised their support to enable him continue his plans for the socio-economic development of the area.
