The Upper East regional correspondent of the Enquirer Newspaper Samuel Abane was one of about 30 persons who died in a car crash near Savelugu this morning. His body was identified at the Tamale Teaching Hospital by his media colleagues who went round with the Tamale mayor, Alhaji Haruna Friday to assess the extent of casualties. In August this year, Samuel Abane allegedly organized a secret meeting between deputy information minister, Baba Jamal and some journalists in the region to plot how to twist stories in favour of the mills administration. He came to the limelight when an alleged secret tape recording of the said meeting was leaked to the media. A freelance journalist, Maxwell Mashoud is one of the journalists who saw Samuel Abane�s lifeless body at the Tamale Teaching Hospital this afternoon. He said �It was sad moment for all the media persons who were at the hospital. � The medical persons, who were on the ground, according to Mashood, were working feverishly on most of the wounded but unfortunately their colleague, Samuel Abane could not make it. �We saw the severity of the injuries that he had sustained, you could see blood oozing form his mouth and nose as well. � He described Samuel Abane previously worked with The Chronicle newspaper before he joined The Enquirer. Apart from his involvement in the infamous Baba Jamal recorded tape, his colleagues described him as a friendly and kind person.
