The Nima Divisional Police Command has arrested two journalists for allegedly possessing substances suspected to be narcotic drugs. The two journalists are Patrick Osei Agyeman, also known as Countryman Songo, Host of Fire for Fire, a popular sports programme on Asempa Radio, and Bismark Brown of Happy FM and host of Morning Show on eTV. The two were arrested in the company of four others by the police patrol team in Accra during the early hours of Monday. According to the a source close to the Nima Police Station, the patrol team while on their usual rounds spotted a group of young men making suspicious movement around the Ridge area in Accra. The source said the area was noted for hardened criminals so the team called for armed reinforcement before raiding the hideout and arrested a group of young men in possession and using illegal drugs. It said so far six people had been arrested including the two journalists who were found to be in possession of marijuana, cocaine, heroin which were seized from them during the raid, along with some firearms. He said the patrol team after the raid handed the suspects over to the Nima Police where they were being interrogated by investigators. The suspects are due to be put before court Tuesday.
