Radio And TV Presenters Arrested for Drug Possession Granted Bail

The Nima Divisional Police Command has denied reports that two media practitioners arrested on Monday were in possession of fire arms, cocaine and heroin. The Nima District Police Commander, DSP Bernard Aduhene has told Joy news the police were surprised to hear media reports that Asempa FM�s Patrick Osei Agyemang, popularly called Songo and Happy FM�s Managing News Editor Bismark Brown, the two TV/Radio personalities arrested along with others for alleged drugs offences were in possession of firearms, cocaine and heroin. The two, along with Franklyn Ayensu, said to be a staff of a bank in Accra were in court on Thursday. Songo, Franklyn and Brown who also host the breakfast show programme on ETV-Ghana were picked up by the Nima Police on Monday on alleged drug offences. A police investigator at the Nima Police Station, Thomas Prempeh told the presiding Judge, Justice K.A. Ofori-Atta that the Attorney General�s office was yet to assign a prosecutor to the case and that details had already been passed on to the High Court. After brief arguments between the investigator and defense lawyer Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu and Justice Ofori-Atta granted the three accused persons bail in the sum of GH�10,000 each with one surety each to be justified. They are to return to court on December 9.
