A former Minister of Tourism under ex-President JJ Rawlings, Mike Gizo has emphasised that Ghana will not plunge into a state of anarchy come election 2012.
Speaking to citifmonline. com in Accra, Hon. Gizo said Ghanaians are peaceful in nature and for some politicians to predict doom for the country next year should election results do not go their favour is "very disturbing." "It won't happen," Hon. Gizo stated categorically. "The good Lord Himself has said that he won't destroy this nation so it won't happen."
"Ghanaians are generally peaceful and there is no way we'll pick guns and knives against each other. It won't happen," he said.
The former Tourism Minister, who is now a chief, however, appealed to politicians in particular to be mindful of their utterances since vitriolic attacks on the airwaves could disturb the enviable peace Ghana is currently enjoying. "2012 is not a do or die affair so we must have the temperament to bow out when the results don't go in our favour.
"As a chief, I'm really worried and we have to do all that is within our means to protect our society from spiritual forces who might want to change the destiny of this country," Nene Gizo stated.
