It Is Taking Too Long For NDC To Integrate DFP

Mr. John Amekah, a former Deputy General Secretary of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has observed that it is taking too long a time for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to fully integrate members of the DFP into the mainstream body politics of the NDC. I think it is getting too long. It looks as if the DFP is not wanted, he told the Daily Graphic. Throwing some light on how far the two parties were working together since the DFP joined the NDC, Mr. Amekah intimated I will not say that the DFP is frustrated, however, there must be a spirit of recognition and acceptance. He recalled that the DFP by consensus decided to join the National Democratic Congress some weeks ago but expressed with regret that while the DFP had long finished with its side of the agreement, the NDC was yet to do so officially. The DFP has finished with its part of the agreement; now we are waiting for the NDC to also complete their side of acceptance, he said. He said the current situation could create problems for many members of the DFP. Our members are political animals and would want to see themselves in action towards 2012. So I think it is up to the NDC to quickly reciprocate what the DFP has done, he emphasized. According to Mr. Amekah, per the memorandum of understanding signed by the two parties, it was agreed that some executive members of the DFP should be incorporated into that of the NDC but said that was yet to take place. He expressed the hope that pretty soon, the NDC would ratify and implement their side of the accord to enable the DFP members to participate vigorously and actively in the efforts to campaign and win the 2012 elections.
