Why Adenta MP 'Chickened Out' ...

A former Member of Parliament for the Adenta constituency, Kojo Opare Hammond, has taken a swipe at the incumbent MP, Kojo Adu Asare, who has curiously declared not to contest for a second term, describing him as a failure hence his decision to relinquish the seat. Hon. Asare cited personal reasons as part of his decisions to quit when his term comes to an end next year. However, he was certain the ruling NDC would retain the seat irrespective of the background of the candidate the party would field. Speaking on the Citi Eyewitness News on Tuesday, Mr Hammond expressed shock at the comments of the sitting MP. He said Asares comment gives him up as an immature and a frustrated politician. Mr. Hammond, who is now the Director of Finance and Administration of the NPP, added that the sudden decision of Mr. Asare did not come as a surprise to him. According to him, the MP decided to chicken out due to non-performance in the constituency coupled with the shambolic show of the NDC government. Let me tell you why Adu Asare has chickened out; he did not perform. As an MP, I mean the performance was so abysmal. I mean what has happened in Adenta with Adu Asare is what is happening in general with the NDC, Hammond argued. He stated that Frances Essiam, who is the NPPs parliamentary aspirant for the 2012 elections, would wrestle the NDC to win the seat back. He claimed that the constituents failed to retain him as the MP because his most trusted allies betrayed him during the campaign period.
