NPP Gives NDC Two-Day Ultimatum To Disclose Bankroller Of New Headquarters

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, said the main opposition has given the ruling NDC a two-day ultimatum to disclose their sources of funding for an intended US$20 million new headquarters in Accra. Sir John, as the NPP scribe is affectionately called, said it is unfortunate the National Democratic Congress has enough money to build a new party office, but are dragging their feet to ensure free, fair and credible elections when it comes to cajoling the government to release the same amount of US$20 m to acquire a verification device for the polls. The NDC is reported to be pumping about US$20 million into an edifice intended to be its new headquarters. Mr. Afriyie is asking the NDC to disclose where the money is coming from to clear any doubt in the minds of Ghanaians. In an interview with Citi News, Sir John said: The government should come clean to tell us where they got the money from, if its a private person who is putting up the building for them, we demand to know whether or not the person pays his taxes and we demand the persons name. He added: We deserve to know and if the NDC fails to clear the air within just two days, we would take all the appropriate steps to unearth where the sources of funding for this building is coming from.
