UPDATE: Fulani Chief: 30 People Dead In Gushegu

Alhaji Iddrisu Mohammed Bingle, Chief of Fulanis in Ghana has asserted that 30 people have been killed in Zamashegu, a farming community in the Gushegu district of the Northern region as a result of the shooting incident that occurred in the area and not 13 as earlier reported. Gushegu District Chief Executive, Alhaji Fuseini Alhassan, earlier confirmed to Tweneboah Koduah (TK), sit-in host of PeaceFMs Kokrooko that 13 Fulani nomads have been killed in the shooting incident. Ten people are said to be seriously injured while three people who are in critical condition have been referred to the Tamale General Hospital. It is not clear what necessitated that deadly attack, but it appears to be an alleged attack on the Fulanis in their households by assailants suspected to be rival Konkombas. Speaking in an interview on the same platform, Alhaji Bingle said he had spoken to most of the Fulanis and he can confirm that 30 people have lost their lives. However, the Gushegu DCE claims 13 people died. "we have confirmed 13 dead and so whatever figure they are giving is not the truth..." he said. Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Police Commander, ACP George Tuffuor, speaking on the Kokrooko platform stated that officially, thirteen dead bodies have so far been recovered from the scene of the incident. He also revealed that no arrests have been made so far.
