Son Of President Mills & Emmanuel Frimpong Support WAM Campaign 2011'

Ghanaian-born Arsenal FC starlet, Emmanuel Frimpong and Fiifi Atta Mills, son of President Mills have signed on as ambassadors for the WAM Campaign, a charitable project established by a group of young people who aim to encourage youth to volunteer and support orphans and vulnerable children in Ghana during this Christmas season. WAM Campaign 2011, a brainchild of Me Firi Ghana with the support of the Ghana High Commission UK and Tullow Oil, hopes to provide young people with exciting creative opportunities to use their gifts and talents to support the lives of orphans and vulnerable children living in Ghana. WAM is an acronym which stands for What About ME? to challenge young people to become leaders and achieve more when helping others. The campaign sets out to achieve its goals through volunteering, by making it easier and more accessible for young people to engage, relate and volunteer whilst on holiday; targeting the Christmas season, as it represents the period with the highest number of travelers from around the world venturing to Ghana. This year, the WAM volunteer programme includes a range of activities for orphans and vulnerable children aged from 3-11 years old. It is free to participate and we have made the days flexible and adaptable for anyone who wants to help, be it for an hour, a day or a week, to help make volunteering convenient and accessible. The project kicks off from December 27- 31 at the Family Outreach Centre based in Accra (Spintex) with daily volunteering activities between 9am -4pm. Activities would include Ice breaker day with facilitation games, Creative learning day (arts, music, drama, literacy and numeracy), Sports day, and A trip to the Cinema. The campaign will be captured through video blogging and imagery by the 2011 Ghana UK Based Achievement Award Winner Ernest Simons and documented through interviews and a number of online and offline media platforms to increase awareness.
