An elderly member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffuor says he does not agree with claims that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was a wrong choice as vice for the NPP flag bearer during the 2008 elections.
His comments follow statements by a former senior minister under the Kufuor-administration, J. H Mensah, that the former running mate was incompetent.
J. H Mensah also warned against choosing a running mate from the three northern regions. However, speaking to Citi News, Amoako Tuffuor said there was no need to fret over who was or who is capable of the position just yet. �There is too much pressure on Nana Addo; he is doing his campaign so leave him alone.
"If Nana Addo is not capable of selecting someone to stay in the castle with, run this country with, how on earth can anybody make that suggestion for him? � he asked.The former Executive Chairman of the Ghana School Feeding Programme said it would be presumptuous to assume that the NPP flagbearer did not know who wanted as running mate.
He entreated members of the party to stop trying to pressurize the flag bearer into choosing a running mate.
