Prez Mills Is Ever Ready To Commission Mediocre Projects Like KVIPs

A Deputy Communications Director for the NPP, Samuel Awuku, has slammed President Mills for taking over the official duties of some District and Municipal Chief Executives by commissioning what he describes as minor projects. Sammy Awuku says it is pathetic to see a whole president overjoyed and readily commissioning mediocre projects like KVIPS in a technologically advanced era. According to him, the craze for sod-cutting ceremonies and commissioning of projects other than seeing to the actual implementation of proposed projects is simply a propaganda drive to let the electorate believe that the Mills-Mahama administration was hard at work. He was commenting on a publication by the Ghanaian Times newspaper claiming students of a Senior High School (SHS) in the Volta Region have been barred from using a new dormitory until President Mills commissions it. The state-owned daily in a publication on Monday, December 12, 2011 reports that over 100 students of Mawuli SHS in Ho are sleeping in the open, because the school authorities have refused them the use of the newly-completed 300-bed capacity dormitory block. According to the school authorities, they are waiting for President Mills to commission the new facility before moving the students into it. But in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on PeaceFMs Kokrooko Morning Show, the Volta Regional Director of Education, Gabriel Kploanyi, rubbished the Ghanaian Times publication describing it as complete falsehood, stressing that students are currently occupying the facility. However, Kafui Gati, the reporter whose byline is at the end of the Ghanaian Times publication insist as at last week the building was unoccupied, a claim shared by Samuel Amewode of the The Chronicle, the first newspaper to break the news last week.
