Bukom Banku Drops MP Bid; Declares Support For Vanderpuye

A popular Ghanaian boxer, Braimah Kamoko popularly known as Bukom Banku has thrown in the towel in a bid to contest the Odododiodioo seat as an independent candidate and has given his total support to Nii Lantey Vanderpuye. Bukom Banku declared in September this year that he would resign from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest the parliamentary seat as an independent candidate. The boxer cited the poor living conditions of the constituents as one of the main reasons behind his decision to contest. However, speaking on the Citi Eyewitness News on Friday, Bukom Banku announced that he is backing Nii Vanderpuye, who has declared his intention to contest incumbent Nii Tackie Commey for the seat. Supporters of the two heavy weights Vanderpuye, who doubles as a Presidential aide and Nii Commey - have clashed more than once in the past. According to Bukom Banku, his decision to support Nii Vanderpuye is due to his efforts to restore calm and his commitment to develop the constituency. I decided to contest the Odododiodioo seat but now I have decided to withdraw because of Nii Lantey Vanderpuye. He is a good man, he is the best solution for Odododiodioo, Bukom Banku declared. He added, Nii Lantey is my father and he solves my problems for me so I cant contest him and I am asking everybody to support Nii Lantey Vanderpuye.
