NACOB Boss Says UK Website Lied

The Narcotics Control Board has denied knowledge of the arrest of four Britons in connection with the alleged seizure of some 80 million pounds worth of UK-bound cocaine from Ghana. The Mailonline in the UK reported on Saturday that a UK-led international law operation resulted in the seizure of a tonne of the drug in a raid on a villa in the suburbs of Accra. According to the Mailonline also reports that one German and two Ghanaians were arrested following the raid, which was the culmination of a six-month intelligence operation led by UK Customs officers. The report said the drugs were found in what was described as a "specially constructed concealment within the house". However, speaking to Citi News, Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board, Yaw Akrasi-Sarpong said his outfit is unaware of such an arrest although he claims it will be a great success if such an arrest took place. "I am not aware of it, the Police is not aware. If they claim it is customs thing it will be a major achievement but it will be sad if the customs of England will work this directly out with the customs of Ghana to arrest cocainebut my first reaction is that it is a lie," he said. Mr. Sarpong added that the law enforcement agencies in the UK and other countries will not carry out such a secret raid without alerting Ghanaian authorities. He however assured that he will contact the British commission to clarify the report.
