The former Chief of Staff under the Kufuor administration, Kwadwo Mpiani has described as a �big joke�, claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) financier Alfred Woyome that the NPP administration tried assassinating him on several occasions. Mr. Woyome made the assassination allegation when he addressed a press conference about two weeks ago. The media event was an attempt to clear the air on a 42 million Ghana cedis judgment debt received in 2010 for what he has widely described as the illegal termination of a contract awarded him to renovate some stadia towards Ghana�s hosting of the 2008 African Cup of Nations. Mr. Mpiani who was Chief of Staff at the time told Citi News that the Kufuor administration had better things to do than plot Mr Woyome�s death. �Why would anybody want to assassinate Woyome. Who is Mr Woyome for anybody to assassinate him? I think it is a big joke for him to go and say that we [NPP] wanted to assassinate him, for what? � he queried. He added that �if anybody comes to say we want to assassinate him, who is he and what makes him so special for somebody to want to assassinate him. Who is Woyome to be assassinated? � Meanwhile, the minority group in Parliament is set to hold a media encounter on Tuesday to address the claims made by Alfred Woyome. Speaking to Citi News Hon. O. B. Amoah MP for Nsawam Adowegyiri stated that Alfred Woyome as an individual did not have a contract with the erstwhile Kufuor administration and the minority would address it on Tuesday.
