Give Mills Another Chance - Ofosu Ampofo

The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development , Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has pleaded to the to enable him continue with his vision for the country. According to Hon. Ofosu Ampofo, President Mills, since his assumption of office in January 2009, has laid a solid foundation for socio-economic development of the country, making it one of the fastest growing economies in the world. This, he claimed, should motivate the electorate to renew his mandate in the next year's election. Speaking at the launch of the Local Government Capacity Support Project (LGCSP) at Central Region historic city of Saltpond last week, Ampofo contended that it took the credibility of a sitting President in Africa for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to give the green light for the country to access a loan facility of US$3billion at a go. He maintained that the IMF approved of US$3billion Chinese loan facility on Wednesday for Ghana to undertake infrastructural development especially for oil and gas development in the Western Region. The Minister told the gathering that the approval of the loan showed the creditability and honesty of President Mills and his National Democratic Congress (NDC) government in the eyes of the international community. To him, President Mills should be allowed to use the funds from China to implement the projects he has envisaged for the Ghanaian economy, adding that 'a tailor who cuts cloth into pieces is the one who can best sew the dress'. This statement attracted a lot of applause from the crowd.
