Man Stabs Friend In The Chest And Cheek

A 30-year-old carrier at the Kotokuraba market in the Central Region was on Monday remanded into Prison custody by a Circuit Court in Cape Coast for allegedly stabbing another carrier friend in the chest and left cheek. The accused, Desmond Kwakwa earlier pleaded guilty with explanation to unlawfully causing harm but the court entered a plea of not guilty for him after his explanation. He told the court that the victim, Mr. Kwesi Annan was the one who tried to stab him with a broken bottle during a fight and it was when he tried to collect the object from him that it cut Mr. Annan. The court, however, remanded him to reappear on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Chief Inspector Charles Anku told the court presided over by Mrs. Florence Kai Otu that, on Thursday December 15 the accused met Annan at the old Fire Service Station in Cape Coast where he physically assoulted him. He said in an attempt to know the reason for that action, Kwakwa rained insults on him which later turned into a fight. Chief Inspector Anku said, Kwakwa got hold of a broken bottle and stabbed Mr. Annan in his chest and on his left cheek and it attracted people from the neighborhood, who separated the two, and sent them to the Police Station. He said the Police after its investigations arrested Kwakwa.
