Cocaine Committee Nails Ghana Police

The Chairman of the four-member committee investigating the swapped cocaine exhibit, Justice Agnes Dodzie, has described as disobedient, the action taken by the police in prosecuting the case which has now become the cocaine-turned-baking-soda saga. According to Justice Dodzie, the Police Service�s disregard for directives from the Chief Justice�s office on where the case was to be prosecuted as well as other rules with regard to the proper procedure to be followed in the case were ignored. Justice Dodzie made these pronouncements on the last day of the hearing of the committee when DSP Dery of the Prosecuting Unit of the Police Service took his turn before the committee. DSP Dery told the committee that the police were not to blame for the delay in prosecuting the case because the docket could not be traced by the court clerk when the police demanded it. Justice Dodzie, however, maintained the police�s disregard for the directives of the CJ was a fundamental flaw.
