Woyome's Car Was Not A Gift Sir John

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has admitted receiving a car from embattled NDC bankroller Alfred Woyome in 2004 but said it was not a gift. Mr. Woyome who is being investigated by the Economic and Organised Crimes Office on the orders of President Mills alleged the NPP scribe could bear him out and justify his receipt of a GhC 42 million judgment debt for work he did on some stadia ahead of Ghanas hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008. Mr. Woyome mentioned dealings with the NPP General Secretary on issues relating to the award of contract to him and its subsequent termination thereof. Speaking to Citi News, Sir John did not deny receiving the car but said it was part of payment for legal services he had rendered to the NDC financier as his lawyer. "He bought a RAV 4 vehicle as part of the services I rendered, but since 2008 that we lost the elections I have never seen Alfred, I have not been privy to all these things that he is doing," he said. Sir John stated that it is unfortunate for Mr. Woyome to deliberately bring the issue out to seem that he [Woyome] bribed him. He added that Mr Woyome must answer allegations concerning the GhC42 m judgment debt and stop raising irrelevant issues.
