Drama unfolded at Mankessim in the Mfantseman District of the Central region Tuesday when some National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in the area attempted to remove the billboard of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.
The billboard was erected around the Mankessim School Park during the 2008 general election but NDC activists in the area sought to remove it prior to a visit by Vice President, John Mahama to launch the second phase of the Rural Enterprises Project.
Information gathered by Daily Guide at the venue indicated that the people claimed the vice president did not want to see anything associated with the NPP around the area.
The paper also established that they used a pinch bar to pull down the billboard but could not remove it as it was too heavy.
Disappointed, the group numbering about six, had no option than to use a red and yellow cloth to cover the entire billboard. Reports say some NPP supporters who spotted them undertaking that action became angry and reported the matter to the security personnel around who ordered that the cloths be removed to avoid clashes.
The NDC supporters complied with the directive after a short scuffle between supporters of the two leading parties.
Daily Guide observed at the launching that NDC members were bussed to the programme where they were spotted in party gear, a situation which compelled people around to ask whether the programme was a political rally.
