Man Stabbed To Death On Xmas Day In Kumasi

A twenty-five-year-old man was stabbed to death and two others sustained cutlass wounds when armed robbers attacked holiday makers on the notorious Bantama High Street at the dawn of Christmas day. The deceased, identified as Prince Brobbey, a resident of Ahinsan in Kumasi was apparently stabbed on the neck when the robbers demanded his mobile phone. According to eyewitnesses, the assailants attacked the deceased with a knife after he refused to hand over his mobile phone to them. In the midst of the commotion, the gang attacked others on sight with knifes injuring two others. The Bantama High Street had gained notoriety for criminality in the night especially on festive occasions. A witness, Nana Yaw Osei, told the Daily Graphic that he saw the body of the deceased covered with a cloth moments after he was killed. According to him, he was enjoying the night with some friends at the �S� Bar, a drinking spot at Bantama when he heard noise coming from the High Street. Within minutes there was a spillover of the disturbance to the drinking spot.�I personally saw a man brandishing a gun as people run helter-skelter.� According to the witness, a stampede ensued at the drinking spot and as a result he sustained slight injury. He said he decided to seek medical attention at the nearby Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and on his way he saw the dead body.�I also met two persons with wounds from the attacks, at the hospital, �he said. He stated that the attacks happened in the absence of the police. Police had confirmed the story but said they were investigating the matter.Friends of the deceased said they had gone to Bantama from their base in Ahinsan to have fun. They said they had earlier gone to Ahodwo but continued to Bantama since there was not much fun at Ahodwo.
