Kufuor, Mpiani Dragged To Court Over Woyome Saga

A member of the governing NDCs legal team, Chris Ackumey, has filed a writ at the High Court seeking the court to declare that former President Kufuor be held personally responsible for the Gh58 million loss incurred by the state as judgment debt paid to NDC financier Alfred Woyome in 2010. Mr. Woyome claims the abrogation of his contract to renovate some stadia ahead of the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana was what compelled him to drag the state to court through which he was awarded the hefty judgment debt. President Mills has directed the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) to investigate the matter. President Mills has also said in a Radio Gold interview that he would ensure those who caused the beneficiaries to drag the matter to court in the first place are held responsible for the various judgment debt - including that paid to Mr Woyome -incurred by the state which amounts to about Gh2. 7 billion as captured in the Auditor Generals recent report.
