NDC Appointees Are Very Competent JohnTells Rawlings

The Minister of Information, John Tia Akologo, has said President Evans Atta Mills has the sole prerogative to cleanse his administration of perceived corrupt officials contrary to calls by ex-President J. J Rawlings on the president to do so now. Former President Rawlings in a lecture on Wednesday to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the 31st December uprising, counseled President Mills to begin cleansing his administration of corrupt officials if his resolve to fight corruption is to be respected. The former military ruler said President Mills had filled his government with corrupt and opportunistic people who did not suffer for the party. He told party supporters that his former vice president and his administration have sidelined those who suffered for the NDC in bad times and rather gone for opportunists to enjoy in government. However, the information minister told Citi News Rawlings got it wrong. According to him, the current appointees in the NDC administration have been excellent in delivering the promise of a Better Ghana agenda to Ghanaians. Mr. Akologo said: The need to cleanse is up to His Excellency the President. My personal opinion is that the team is working and has been competent and has done tremendously well and it is up to the President to judge all of us.
