Police And DCE In Biakoye Clash

The Hohoe Divisional police commander DCOP Emmanuel Appiah has denied accusations that his command failed to prevent a murder in the Apisor rural area in the Biakoye District of the Volta Region. One person believed to be the Apisor Paramount Chiefs nephew was killed and several others including the Chief himself injured in a clash between the two rival ethnic groups in the area. The fight was between the Akans and Apisors over which ethnic groups has the right to organize the festival for the area. Speaking to Citi News, Nana Akata Luis the DCE of Biakoye blamed the police for the death of Nicholas Ameye. He said I called the police in the evening to inform them that the people were agitated and that they should come to the town and calm them down but they did not mind me, they only came after the thing happened in the morning. Nana Akata Luis said he had to call on the Volta Regional police command for help on the matter. In response, the Hohoe divisional police commander DCOP Emmanuel Appiah said the DCEs claims were a perfect fabrication, he wasnt even in the townhe was in Ho. I got to the scene at 2am with my men and one of them was even cut in the arm with a machete. DCOP Emmanuel Appiah added that the DCE was only trying to protect his own reputation because he knows he will be accused of inaction. According to the DCOP he himself has taken sides with the Apisors. I even told him not to allow them to go ahead with the festival but he did not mind me. So if he is saying I did not do my job he is telling lies and its not good. The DCE has however confirmed to Citi News the Apisor paramount Chief Nana Okitikpo III, has been discharged from the hospital and recovering quick.
